The Community Council of Devon is pleased to announce some further support to women entrepreneurs

Grant funding has been obtained from the Skills Funding Agency to enable the Women Do Business programme to continue offering support to some community groups in rural Devon where women meet regularly in their local community for business support.   The programme will be able to offer training and development opportunities.  This will be delivered locally, in suitable and accessible premises, and at convenient times with additional support around travel and caring where necessary. Support of this kind for self employed women or those thinking of developing a business is especially vital in the current economic climate.

The project builds on successful community-led learning projects previously delivered by the Community Council, and in particular the Women Do Business programme.  Sue Southwell has been employed as the Women's Support Worker and she will support the groups in identifying what training is needed for their members.  The types of training on offer could include ICT (including use of new technologies and social media), personal and business development, self confidence, and financial literacy.  Each of the community groups will be able to identify ‘champions' who will receive additional support and training (including opportunities for networking) in order to progress their groups to a longer-term sustainable footing beyond the life of this project.

For further information about this project please ring Sue Southwell or Gail Hickson on 01392 382413.
